Some updates on Azovstal. Ukraine has come out with an official statement on the situation. It appears more soldiers are being evacuated, the total number according to Russia is over 1700 so far. Red cross is on site registering everyone who is being evacuated, fully taking advantage of their right to have unhindered access to POWs as outline in the Geneva convention. They are not transporting these POWs, just taking down their information so there is a record of who all are in Russian custody. It does appear Russia and the separatists are planning to hold trials as the uninjured soldiers are being held in facilities meant for people awaiting trials. These trials are going to be such a farce, I am so angry just thinking about it. Not mentioned in western news that I've seen but something really really important for us all to keep on eye on. Ukraine has made an urgent request to the UN. They are asking the UN to demand access for UN personnel to get into Azovstal to do a check on chemical tanks. There are holding tanks at Azovstal that contain large amounts of chemicals that are highly toxic. The concern here is that with Russia bombing these facilities without discrimination, they may have compromised the integrity of the holding containers. There are enough of these chemicals present that if the containers are damaged, they could leak into the Sea of Azov. And if that happens, it would kill all life in that sea. The entire sea. And it would likely spread into the Black Sea. https://www.cnn.com/europe/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-05-19-22/h_1655d313446f6acb86ffc99c890fb694
