We are facing a global food crisis that is going to have far reaching impacts. Russia has blocked all sea export of grain from Ukraine. This is a big deal because Ukraine supplies about 20% of the worlds high grade wheat, and about 7% of total wheat exports. That's just the wheat part, Ukraine also exports other grains the world is dependent upon. Russia is another big exporter of grains. A lot of Ukraine's grain is trapped in Russian occupied areas. Russia has been stealing that grain and transporting it to Syria for sale, you can see a ship carrying grain for Russia into Syria. While this theft is going on, Europe is trying to figure out how to transport all the grains out of Ukraine by other routes. This problem is compounding because Russia is also destroying fields, which means Ukraine will be able to produce less grain this next season. The most vulnerable around the world will suffer from this artificial famine. Add to this, wildfires in India have destroyed their grain production as well and they have officially shut down exports. Food prices, specifically foods with grains, are going to rise significantly. And there will be shortages and places who won't have any at all
